Melissa D. South, Owner, MA, LPC, ACS, NCC is a collaborative, caring, and empowering mental health counselor dedicated to helping individuals of all ages grow and thrive. Melissa specializes in treating a wide range of issues affecting a variety of populations. She works with children and teens to address coping skills for stress & anxiety, adoption, school challenges, bullying, behavioral issues, mood regulation, trauma. Melissa works with adults to improve relationship issues, anxiety, identity concerns related to culture, race and religion, and trauma related issues. Melissa also works with couples to improve communication, trust, and build healthy dynamics within the relationship.

Melissa offers a strengths-based and person-centered approach to counseling, incorporating diverse treatment interventions to meet the client or couples’ needs. She incorporates evidence-based practices including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and trauma informed care approaches. Melissa's consistent authenticity, compassion, & calm energy combined with, her wealth of knowledge & experience are what clients find most supportive and helpful.

Additionally, Melissa is an experienced, competent, & inspiring Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) for LACs seeking outside clinical supervision to develop their professional identity & grow clinical skills. Melissa strives to reduce stigma, increase access to services, & contribute to the future generation of counselors. She is thrilled to be the Owner of a collaborative group private practice, South Collective Counseling.

Melissa welcomes anyone seeking help to reach out! She understands the courage it takes & offers free 15-min phone consultations for new clients to ask questions & get a sense of her approach. Melissa truly enjoys working with LACs as well & loves watching new clinicians develop their own style, and learn to trust their instincts & abilities in the process.
