What is Family Counseling?

Family counseling or family therapy is a treatment approach for multiple members of a family or the entire family unit to participate in the therapeutic process. Family counseling is typically conducted with more than one family member present at each session. Depending on the circumstances and dynamics, the clinician will assess how to best structure family counseling sessions to help the family unit meet their mutually agreed upon goals.
